Volunteering in the Land of the Rising Sun in India

I am thrilled to share my recent volunteering experience at Newman School in Neotan, a small village in Arunachal Pradesh. During the months of November and December 2022, I had the honor of teaching English, social studies, and science to over 300 students from LKG-X, as well as 60 girl students in the hostel from classes UKG-X. It was an incredibly rewarding experience to witness the students’ progress and enthusiasm for learning.

But that’s not all – Newman School’s sustainable practices left a lasting impact on me. The school is dedicated to self-sustainability through growing their own food in the fields and raising their own animals and poultry. Witnessing these practices firsthand was truly inspiring and eye-opening.

My stay at the girls’ convent was incredibly comfortable, and I was grateful for the exceptional care provided by the sisters. The school is led by the renowned and award-winning Bishop George Pallipparambil, and I was humbled to be part of such a passionate and dedicated team.

I am grateful to have had the opportunity to contribute to the lives of the students and the school community at Newman School. I look forward to seeing the continued impact of their sustainable practices in the future.

Best regards,
